We carry Thule roof racks as we believe them to be the most flexible, most suited to purpose and best supported roof rack system available. All standard Thule rack systems are rated to 75Kgs.

The most likely choices you will have for your Thule roof rack system are:

1. Standard roof bars or Aero bars? There is no real difference in strength between the bars - your car roof is not as strong as either type -  and very little difference in car fuel consumption. Aero bars look better on some cars, if your car is good looking then go for a good looking rack too, they also allow you to use the full range of the bar for carrier attachments ( eg kayak cradles, bike carriers etc ) whereas on a square bar you can't use the section that connects the bar to the footpack.
2. Which Footpack system? If you have roof railings on your car you will probably be offered both a 'rapid intracker' or 'rapid railing' and a 'rapid crossroad'. The rapid crossroad was designed to meet more stringent European safety legislation and features a strap that forms a full surround on the roof railing. The other two types feature a system similar to a vice that is tightened around the roof railing. We haven't experienced problems with either type and are happy to recommend both. Load rating is the same for all types, so your decision comes down to styling and preferred attachment method.
