The Cobra Explorer fits the description of 'perfect kayak' for many paddlers. The weight makes it easy to lift onto the car by yourself, while the length makes it easy to control both on and off the water. The full keel that runs the length of the kayak provides excellent tracking, making it easy to travel distances that most wouldn't attempt with such a short kayak. For example - if you live in Christchurch, the paddle from Cass Bay, around Quail island and back again is an enjoyable trip on the Explorer.

The shape of the hull not only features the substantial keel, but also flat sections on either side to provide the stability that many crave in a sit on top kayak. The stability for adults weighing over 50 kgs is enough to allow standing on the kayak for those who want to play around and see what they can do. However, anyone that weighs less than 50 kg should paddle the Cobra Play instead as they will find that the keel isn't fully submerged, which greatly reduces stability. For kids who are on the brink of weighing enough, simply add some luggage (a water bag is easiest) until they are large enough on their own.

The Cobra Explorer above is pictured with optional accessories (see below for links to more information and prices of these items). Hatches can be installed at the time of purchase, at any time by those with handy skills or you can return your kayak to us in Christchurch for fitting. Hatches lead to the inside of the kayak providing a great place for gear storage. Leg straps make the kayak feel like more of an extension of your body giving you more control and confidence in all situations, and especially in the surf.
