This is the Sea 3 is the third in a series of award winning adventure sea kayaking films by renowned explorer and documentary maker, Justine Curgenven. It includes over two hours of sea kayaking expeditions, action and wildlife from Antarctica, the Faroe Islands, New Zealand, Wales & Scotland, as well as interviews from some interesting names in the world of sea and greenland kayaking.

Over 2 hours of stunning footage (also see YouTube preview below):

Scottish Tidal Races (15 mins): After an introduction to the DVD, Justine starts right off with some big water action - Falls of Lora tidal race in Scotland. Imagine what happens everyday when a huge volume of tide water has to go through a very narrow gap between a mainland and an island... The huge white water created by this sort of location is known as a tidal race and the white water produced in some areas is so huge even white water kayakers often choose the longer, faster sea kayak as the craft of choice for this sort of fast and turbulent water. Fantastic seakayaking action including loops, swims and sweet surfs.

Paul Caffyn (15 mins): A rare insight into the legend who has circumnavigated Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Japan, and Alaska along with a slew of other impressive sea kayak voyages! Footage of Paul in New Zealand's Marlborough Sounds & Alaska, and a fascinating interview.

Greenland rolling (15 mins) of Cheri Perry and Freya Hoffmeister, two of the worlds best Greenland style rollers share their philosophies and provide an insight into their very different motivations for practicing Greenland rolling and kayaking acrobatics. Clear underwater footage of Cheri's many different rolls. Highlights of the section include Cheri's straight jacket roll, and Freya's kayak gymnastics including her famous in kayak headstand.

Double Trouble (7 mins): Some of Britain's best seakayakers head to Wales to try to transfer their single kayaking skills to double seakayaks, with mixed results! Tandem rolls, surfing and general sillyness.

The Faroe Islands (25 mins): Justine Curgenven's expedition to some of Europe's most dramatic Fairytale scenery including the world's tallest vertical cliff and thousands of sea birds. Gales break her tent, tidal races and fog challenge her on the water and local people invite her into their homes. Experience eating raw sheep and hunting for puffins.

Surfing New Zealand: Great on-board footage of Steve Knowles ripping it up beach surfing.

The Shetland Islands (10 mins): Birds and caves in some of Scotland's northernmost isles - including an open crossing in a thunder storm to remote Foula. Enjoy trip footage of paddling with the elements, wildlife and exploring caves.

Sea Kayak Cartwheel: Playboating in a sea kayak requires big water and a bit of craziness.

Epics in Ice - Antarctic Odyssey (40 mins): A dramatic tale of three Australians: the late Andrew McAuley who died within sight of his goal of attempting to cross the Tasman Sea from Tasmania, Australia to Fiordland, New Zealand in Feb of 2007, and two of his paddling friends, Stu Trueman and Laurie Geoghagan, who paddle 800 kilometres down the Antarctic Peninsula in incredibly challenging conditions. They battle through horrific winds, get trapped by moving ice, and are plagued by injuries (well one of the team is anyway). Epics in Ice is a documentary style film that is equally terrifying and hilarious as the team cope with their many hazards with good humor. Enjoy the story as well as the beauty and wildlife of one of the last true wildernesses.
