There are only a handful of runable, large white water rivers in the world for multiday adventure whitewater kayaking and rafting trips. The Magpie in Quebec is one of these rare rivers, and the fact that it flows through a wilderness area accessible only by float plane makes it that much more appealing as a destination. But what is it like? This DVD was made to answer that question and hopefully protect the river at the same time.
Funded by an adventure company who runs trips on the river, there are two parts to this DVD - the feature film that makes the trip look very possible by the majority of paddlers who may book a trip, and the much more interesting half of the DVD in the extras section, which shows the actual size of the water if you don't portage the large rapids, as this world class group of kayaker shows is possible. With these two productions on one disc, there is more than enough footage to keep you entertained and dreaming about your next adventure.
Long Live a Free Magpie by Lisa Utronki and James McBeath is a whitewater kayaking adventure of discovery and hope, featuring some of the world's greatest kayakers, that brings you to the endangered Magpie River of Northern Quebec.
