A note from Cumec Magazine's Editor:

What is CUMEC?

CUMEC is a whitewater magazine based around Kiwi & Aussie paddlers. Cumec promotes the sport of Kayaking and encourages environmental awareness throughout our countries.

We are new to this publishing game but definetely not new to the world of whitewater. Bringing together a group of writers & photographers who choose to kayak as a lifestyle, some who choose to paddle 20 days a year, others over 300!

Why CUMEC?

Standing in a kayakshop or bookstore scanning the shelves I consistently failed to find material about my own country. I asked around and many others had the same problem. What was available was from Canada, France & the USA. Locations that were outside of my direct reach. What I really wanted was to know about the local scene, the local paddlers & the local places.

After discussing with many friends & businesses, I realised that there was an opportunity for a new fresh look at kayaking. A magazine that promoted Kiwi & Aussie paddlers whether they were kayaking at home or overseas.

We see CUMEC as a tool to help promote the sport of kayaking in Australasia and bring together our paddling communities.

Cheers,

Antz Longman - editor
