Kayak surfing - what could be better than coming home from work ( or school ), grabbing your kayak and heading down to the beach for a blast? No expensive car trips up and down a river, good company and some great bars for afterwards to talk about the wave you caught and the move you pulled off.
If you'd like to learn to do it safely and in style then this is the course for you.
You'll learn:
- How to paddle out
- How to catch a wave
- Which waves to catch and which ones to let slide past
- How to control your kayak effectively on the move
- How to roll yourself upright when it all goes wrong
- What weather patterns to watch for
- Tricks and moves
- What to do in a rip
- How to spot where the best kayaking breaks are on a beach
- Where the best kayak surf spots around Canterbury are
The course provides a three session kayak rolling course, a flat and moving water and surf day ( to learn basic control strokes and edging ) and then either two evening surf sessions or one 4 hour surf session.
All of our moving water kayak instructors are qualified to a minimum NZOIA Kayak 1. All of our Sea Kayak instructors hold SKOANZ certification.
Learn with someone that knows how to paddle, how to teach, and how to make a quick and effective rescue should something happen.
In the event that you need to change or cancel your trip or course we require a minimum of 48 hours notice to reschedule or refund. A $40 administration fee applies to any cancellations within 14 days of your course or trip start date.
