Te Waka Pounamu

Te Waka Pounamu is a waka ama/outrigger canoe club from Ötautahi (Christchurch), Te Waipounamu (the South Island), New Zealand, they also compete in Dragon Boating as and when they can. Te Waka Pounamu at the 2004 Nationals

Te Waka Pounamu has a current membership of approximately 30 paddlers ranging in age from 16 years old through to 64 years. This includes Junior, Open Mens, Open Womens, Mixed, Masters and Senior Masters teams.

The teams and paddlers within the club train and compete all year round in various outrigger events from sprints through to marathons, and in the summer months they compete in dragon boating. Outside of competition, they organise and run club activities, workshops and regattas.
